I have heard these rear ends can be used in gbodys, and are only a half inch wider?Reason I'm asking is I can get one for 50 bucks. I was wondering options on control arms will stock pieces fit or do you need after market?

Actually a 64-72 A body will be a direct bolt-in.I pickup one from a 67 impala for arould $100.

You usually need new upper arms that provide a different angle for the ears. The Impala rear is not the same as an a body, it's a b body.

You will need a different upper control arm that is built to bolt an A-Body 12-Bolt into a G-Body. Below are two options we have:

For lower control arms the factory length G-Body control arms will work. I would recommend a lower control arm with one end being spherical since the lower mounts are off set just a little bit.

I hope that helps,
Ryan

The only ones I'd consider swapping in are the 8.5 ten bolt that were originally in the 71-72 skylark and cutlass. The earlier 8.2 ten bolts are parts nightmares. A Chevy twelve bolt might be nice but I doubt anyone is letting one go for $50.

The up side of the one I mentioned is parts are readily available, and the axles are bolt in like a 9" ford and don't require a c-clip eliminator kit to retain the axles .
