My bumpers are pretty thrashed and don't care for them enough to pay for replacements but I have to come up with something so I can get this thing painted..

Was thinking of trying chrome bumpers from a 78 Malibu maybe, just hate to buy them and It doesn't go as planned, Also thought about a front bumper from a 72 monte since they have they same shape but the 72 is a bit wide I imagine..

So my question is this..
Anybody seen this done before with a 3rd gen monte? got pics maybe or links?

Wish they made tucked fiberglass bumpers or something not so bulky for the front..

Nobody I guess???

Spose I'll have to just give it a try and see what I come up with

My dad always wanted me to try putting Malibu bumpers on my 79 Monte, but that was 15 years ago. Parts are a lot harder to come by now to try that.

I am also surprised that nobody makes fiberglass bumpers to replace these since the chrome coming off was an issue early on and then you are left with holes where it was.
I think even if you could get some sort of chrome bumper to fit you then would have to fab up bumper fillers to close the gaps so it would look right.

I always wanted to see some one modify a ss nose to fit one of these cars. I know the hoods are a lot different and would take some fab work. Just would like to see what it would look like.

Everything is different between the years you would need the complete front clip and the doors off the SS, I have seen it done once and thought it looked strange since the SS front end is longer it looked out of proportion.

I know the years are a lot different. I was thinking some one could trim the front of the hood down to match the ss nose and modify the bumper skin to match the taper in the fenders. Sounds like more work than it's worth, but just want to see it done.

I'm on the Hunt for bumpers so as soon as I can get my hands on some I'll be pressing forward..

I'll most likely have to make some fiberglass fillers for gaps front and rear and possible graft some sheet metal to the front of the fenders since they are slanted back where the stock monte bumpers mount..

I really like the nose of the Malibu, kinda wish the monte would have got that nose and a chrome rear bumper..

Going on 11 years with the 78 now and finally getting down to some final touches so I can try and get her painted this summer..
