Thanks for the add. I'm new to this forum. I've been looking and searching and can not find the answer. Will a 1979 442 hatch back rear bolt into my 1984 Hurst Olds?
Alright thanks I appreciate the helpyes, but driveshaft length may be different.
No it's aAre you stripping an aero 442?
i bought the hurst without the factory rear in it the guy I bought it from said I could have the rear out of a 1979 442 hatch back he said it is an 8.5 373 posi and should go right in. I'm not to sure if the rear is an 8.5 though. Is there a problem w/ the 8.5?? Fix it instead of putting a 7.5 in it.
No the guy I bought the hurst from is and he said the stock rear from the 442 aero is an 8.5 posi 373 but I'm not to sure about that. I don't believe they came with that option. Do you know if they did. I can't find too much info on these cars. Are you stripping an aero 442?
Alright thanks for the helpThat 79 rear isn't an 8.5 unless it was swapped. If you go from an 8.5 to a 7.5 you will a driveshaft that's 1 inch longer than what came in the 84 H/O. All that being said it is a direct bolt in after you get the driveshaft situation taken care of.
