79 rear will have SAE studs rather than the metric studs used after 81, so you'll have metric stud rotors and SAE stud rear axles, unless you swap to early model rotors or later axle shafts. The knurl diameter on the studs is different as well, and can be tough to find a stud that will fit the axle shaft.

As mentioned above, no G body was factory-built with an 8.5 rear prior to the 1984 model year

I opened the holes to fit the metric studs on the axles on A body rear I have but on the 1980 camaro rotors I just removed the SAE stubs and put the metric ones in
