I got a new front bumper for my 79 Hurst Olds. I Had to take the new bumper apart so I can change the bumper filler. I took the old bumper off and the first thing I said was holy S**t this it heavy. The one I took off was steel and the new bumper is aluminum. I planned on reusing the old one because the slots are already aligned.

Which one would you put on? I definitely see a huge weigh difference but what about safety, and making my life easier when I go to put it back on and aligning it.

Also is it rare to see the aluminum bumper support? I bought it from a junk yard in CT 9 years ago and am finally getting around to putting it on. I believe it was off a 78.

Go with the aluminum. As far as rarity, I don't think they're all that rare. I believe it is easier to find a steel one. I've got 3 steel ones and one aluminum.

The aluminum one came off a '79 Cutlass Supreme built in California. I found the build sheet and it made reference to a 'light weight' fuel efficient package. This car also has several other aluminum pieces.

You've got a great car. I've enjoyed reading you're builds on it. I've got an H/O as well.
