i just found the build sheet in my 79 behind the left 1/4 trim below the window. if you can find the rpo sticker in the trunk or glove box you local dealer could decode them or buzz me with a code if you cant get help there and i will do it for you

Cutlass

I am here in germany... No dealer :-(
I just want to know what was possible to order , which sizes of wheels and tires and seats and so on... Could i order 15" wheels and tires , 350 engine ( Hurst olds) , dual exhaust...
So i need that for getting the car registrated as a historic vehicle.
I have the build sheet of my car , but would be interesting to maybe get one of an Hurst olds , because i have a 350 (chevy) engine in my car and dual exhausts... Who cares if it is a olds or chevy engine.
I have to proof , that it was possible to order that stuff or stuff like that.
Greets , carsten

it had 14s on it oem the v8 were 260 or 307 if you send me the vin i will try to decode it for you

78 Cutlass could have Buick 231 V6, 260 Olds V8 2BBL carb, 305 Chevy 2BBL V8, 305 Chevy 4BBL V8. 79 Cutlass had all of the above engines minus the 305 2BBL which was dropped. In it's place was the W-30 Hurst Olds which came factory equipped with Olds 350 4BBL V8, bucket seats and console and Hurst shifter. Tons of info for these cars on the web. Just google Olds G-body and have at it.

try buying a code book that is what i did!!

Check ebay for a 79 Cutlass sales brochure...no codes but lots of info and pics too!!

I have one

But there are no rim sizes in it and no tire width and nothing about the Hurst olds....
The codes would help for a historical registration of the car , because legal is only what "could" be on the car in 1979 ! That does not mean that it had to be on the car , when it was built !!!
Means :
My 1979 could have a 350 engine , it could have 6 or 7 inch wide wheels , it could have a dual exhaust , it could have a console shifter and bucket seats and so on...
My car does not have that original but has it now. The german TÜV wants to have that informations to get the car the historical registration.
That is the reason why i am looking for informations what was possible to order in 1978/79 for the car !
I will have a look on ebay.
Thanks for that information !!!
Greets , Carsten
