My son is in Afghanistan and just got a 1980 camaro off the net and wants to put a V8 into it ,can I get any help as to what we will run into on this change out Thanks' (And Dad has to go get the car too!)

well im sure its not very difficult its an old car haha. probably depends on what trans the car has if its a th 350 im sure u just need to swap the mounts and a few small things. im sure a camaro forum would help. Dont think they are g-bodies lol 😀

bring it to me i painted and fix it up for you for a great deal

I too am building an 80 camaro along with the 84 grand prix that i'm doing now. switching to a v8 is not hard i'm putting a big block in mine but if the car you are doing is an 1980 then it wouldn't have a v6. 81 is the last year for the 2nd gen camaros it would have a small v8 or a straight six. i'm leaning more tords the small v8 but a very helpful forum to get into is nastyz28.com it is everthing camaro and set up alot like this forum very good forum to be in. good luck on your project

Actually, 1979 was the last year for the 250 straight 6. 1980 camaro's could get the Buick 231 v-6 (California) or the 229 chevy v-6 (49 state). If it's a Buick, the trans will probably have the BOP pattern, but may be a dual pattern case.

Change the engine brackets bolted to the frame to sbc brackets, run your wires and fuel lines, change radiators and enjoy.
