Hey guys, Ill start posting updates here instead of in the introduction thread.

Well guys, just picked up my first Malibu tonight. Drove to St. Paul, MN to get her. Cleanest one I have found in my months of searching without laying down 5k plus for a roller. Gave 2300.00 for it. Cars in Primer but as solid as I could ever ask for. And here are a few pics. Can count on one hand the rust found in the car. Drivers floor pan is starting and there is a very small spot starting around one of the plastic push pins for the weatherstrip on the passenger side jamb. Then needs a little body work from where the landau top was removed. Overall very happy with the shape of the car. Hard to find them this clean in the Midwest!

Alright, moving right along. Got the interior out of the car (except the door panels, will do that tonight when I get off work). Looks like its going to need a drivers side floor pan, which I figured it would. Also appears to be a bit of rust on the roof on the passenger side where the studs for the Landau top were. No issues, Ill cut out the rust and tack in new pieces of sheet metal. I also ground out there old filler where the top meets the C pillar. Have to hit it with some 80 grit, and it will be ready to fill with fiberglass body filler instead of the standard they used. Also got the motor and trans pulled out of the car. Moving right along!

And last night I got the door panels removed, and the rest of the interior out of the car. Started on filling the roof to c pillar today with duraglass. Will start on the roof and passenger side this weekend. Also ordered a floor pan for the drivers side today. Will get that cut and replaced as soon as it shows up.

Looks like a good start for a project! Keep the pics coming. We like photos

damnit another de-landaued bu!!! :x (sorry but to me the landau top is what MaKES a bu,imo.)but to each his own.looking good and great progress! pm me if you still have the landau trim and would sell/barter for the trim AND the side pillar "landau" pieces.im in need of these pieces for my "t-topped" malibu conversion im going to be doing

The previous owner already had removed the top years back, so I dont have any of the trim. I do have the B pillar trim pieces but need them as I dont want to do a "coupe conversion pillar" on this car. Sorry man! Otherwise I would have gladly sold them to you.

I would have rather had a coupe to be honest, but I couldnt pass up this car.

Good start bud... keep up the pace!! much easier to stay focused when its go go go 😀

Thanks brother!! Your car is awesome man!! Its the car that made me decide on the satin black paint job. Mine will be a bit more drag oriented then yours is with stance and such, but man your car is sweet!! What did you use for paint? And how did you prop the chrome bumpers and grill to accept the paint? And congrats on the new addition!!! We just had our second child, Reese Allen Pierce on August 28th of this year. Its truly a blessing!

Today I got the passenger side roof to c pillar done. The floor pan also arrived. So got that cut out and patched in. I ran out of welding wire, so have a couple more spots to patch, then on to seam sealer, POR15, and undercoating. Plan to finish that off tomorrow night sometime. Anyways, here are a few pictures.

How did you crease that floor patch? Looks like it was straight from GM!
