Originally, all 82's had the 7.5. The only way you have an 8.5 is if it was swapped in and the driveshaft was shortened.

if yours was a v-6 like mine, you've got a 7.5", probably with a tall gearing... more likely 2:22 or so....

on the topic, has anyone in here done a b-body axle swap(94-96 caprice/impala/roadmaster) into their g-body? when I was on the b-body sites, one guy had swapped one into his box-body caprice and said it bolted right in.... thinking it was the same axle in the regal, long story short: it didn't.... :?

if anyone can give me any clues it would be greatly appreciated...

All 1982 Regals came with 7.5" rear ends from the factory. The base 3.8 and 4.1 liter Buick V6's came stock with 2.41:1 gears with the option to upgrade to 3.08 or 3.23 with trailer towing package. The Turbo coupes came only with 3.08 gears. 90% of the 3.8 and 4.1 equipped cars I have seen are with the 2.41:1 highway gears.
