Rule of Thumb: Higher the number, smoother the finish
40 rough, 400 smoooooth

Where do i get some of these pads from.

You should be able to find the pads at any place that sells autobody supplies. (wal-mart, autozone, checkers, etc.) 3m makes some good quality pads but any brand should work
