1983 Buick Regal Rear-end

Hey I dont have access to any codes or anything but I was wondering what a stock 83 regal w/ a v6 would leave the factory equipped with rearend wise....thanks in advance

It would probably be a 7.5 rear axle with highway gearing and non-posi-traction. My Regal with a 307 V8 has 2.56 gears and non-posi. I don't think you could get any better than that besides posi-traction unless you had a Turbo Regal which would then likely have more performance oriented gearing (and the 8.5 stronger rear, at least for certain years). I think the code for posi was G80 but like you said you don't have access to the codes. There is a way to tell though, but I don't remember if the wheels are supposed to spin the same direction or what when the car is jacked up off the ground.

they'll spin in opposite directions if it's an open diff....this is probably what you have, being a v-6 car...if it doesn't have a rear sway bar, it's probably just a 7.5 open w'a 2.29 gearing
