ive been makin some progress on the sanding and primering. i ran into a small setback, a $500 small setback known as a 82 C10 SWB that i just couldnt pass up. runs and drives. i had a guy offer me $1000 on my cutlass today. gonna see if he shows up tomorrow. i sold those 3 crager starwires for $120. heres a pic of my cutlass now and the 82 C10 i picked up.
i took the cutlass out for a drive today. it will squal the power tire from a dead stop but thats it.. i power braked it and smoked the hell out of the tire. im gonna clean up and drop on a holley 650 4bbl after i make shure i can get the car titled.all together, i know im gonna have fun with this car after i get it legal. a good dual exhaust will really make it come alive and mabe a small cam somewere down the line.

If you currently have a Qjet on it, just stick with that. A Holley will not make your car any faster unless you're comparing an old, worn-out, untuned Qjet to a brand new tuned Holley.

And your gas mileage will suffer (if you care about that)

x2! If anything pay someone that knows the qjet to rebuild and tune yours. Better than fumble ****ing around with a Holley everytime the weather changes. I know this from personal experience
im currently running a holley 350 2bbl carb. it does ok. still running a tad bit rich thow. i have to fine tune it still. i laid into it pulling out of a store today and i went sideways and squalled the hell out of the tires. god i love that sound! ive never had good luck with quadjunks or eldojunks. thay always flood. i have a 650 eldojunk on my 1982 C10 with a stock chevy 305 with a presher regulator turned way down and it still floods. i need to trade it for a good holley 4bbl. im great at tuneing a holley.just takes time to get it perfect.
Your lack of know-how with Qjets makes them junk? That is a very poor way of looking at things.
A big reason why there are so many people who don't have much luck with Qjets is because they take an old beat up Qjet off some late 70's smog motor and think they can just slap it on a high performance engine and get great results without even modding/tuning the carb in any way. When that doesn't happen, it's of course the fault of the 'Quadrajunk'...
I think quadrajets and Edelbrock performers are way better than most holley 4 barrel street carbs. Much less to work on, and if you take a LITTLE time to learn about them, tuning is simple! Especially on the edelbrock! Those are the best out of the box carbs (besides Demons- but their price is usually higher)
holley 4bbl carbs are verry plentyful around here. all i gotta do is go to my favorite junkyard and walk around for a few minutes and i can leave with a shopping cart full. ive become a master at cleaning and rebuilding holleys. i used to buy them, clean em out and sell em as quick as i could get them ready.
i finally got the wide cragers put on the back of my car and moved the skinny ones up front. i also picked up 4 almost brand new 215/60/14s and had them mounted and ballanced for a total of $130. i sold the C10 to my brother for $500 over the weekend.
