Have good results with yours or is it not running yet?

Update - more parts ordered. Decided to get LS2 timing chain since I heard that was a little more durable and also Melling high flow oil pump.

Hit a big snag. Took the heads off and unfortunately one of the cylinder walls isn't looking pretty. Luckily I found another 6.0LS from someone on Craigslist and happen to know him from my childhood. We are going to try and work something out money wise since he heard about my situation.

Total 180 degree turn in this project. I did find some rusting in one of the cylinder walls. At this point at the minimum needed to hone it. I really didn't want to put much more into this engine since I have already put a decent amount in there. At the time I was at a stand still with the project.

My dad and I had a nice little heart to heart talk since he knows how much this project meant to me so he offered to purchase a Blue Print 383 for the car and said he would work on it only if it was at his place. He has a lot more space and more tools overall. He needs something to do during retirement. So at this rate the engine is at his place. He put a used 3.73 posi I got off a Monte Carlo into the car. Working on the line lock right now since the engine didn't come with flexplate, balancer and a couple other things. Some pics of his progress down below. He's also addressing a lot of small things.

Still shooting for the local 11.50 index racing out here and some bracket racing as well.

Well, there's not really any progress pictures, but the car is basically done. The new engine is in and everything is buttoned up for the most part. This car is about ready to run. A lot of stuff ordered for the car but well worth it. Still using the torque converter that was going to be used with the LS which is on the more aggressive side, but it will work. Exhaust system, found the xpipe catback system that exits behind the rear wheels for cheap, which was only $150 and real good condition. Just needed extenders for it get around the trans crossmember.

Other than that, this car should be good to go for the street, bracket racing, and index racing locally.

Too bad about the LS engine, however, the 383 is no slouch either.
Keep us updated...good luck!
