Hi, my name is Brett. I am 14 years old. I'm from Connecticut.

I just bought my first car a couple months ago. It is a 1983 Monte Carlo CL.
The guy that we bought it from is my uncle's friend. He told us about the car. From what the guy told us, he bought it from some one for $3000. He said he wanted at least half of that. My dad tried to lower the price, so he told him that I was paying for it. So he lowered it to $1000, and that is what we bought it for. It has been sitting for 12 years under a car cover on a concrete pad. Absolutely no rust. He only put 32 miles on it in that 12 years he has had it. But 12 years ago, the gas must have been good because when we tried to start it, it started right up after we put a new battery in it.

-about 71000 miles on it.
-V8 305
-T-Tops
-power seats, windows, door locks
-am/fm stereo radio
-cruise control

I am going to paint it White. I will probably get an LS1, ZZ4 350, or, (like in the recent Car Craft Magazine) an LQ4 that had 480 hp with new heads and a milder cam. We are going to make it look like an SS with a new front nose, 1988 rear bumper and taillights, and a lay-down spoiler.

Welcome!

Looks like you are off to a good start. It's nice to see guys your age fixing up gbodies instead of imports 8)

Welcome, the car looks really clean. G-Bodys are a great first car. If you are going to paint it, have the vinyl top removed, it will look much cleaner. Its not a big deal to do, but you will need the quarter windows off a non-vinyl top car, but they are cheap used. I am doing an LS1 right now, so if you go that route don't hesitate to ask questions.

I hate imports...a lot.

That's what I forgot to mention, A couple weeks ago, me and my dad took off the vinal top. I have a lot of good parts for this from an 86 monte that we parted out a while ago, like the windows.

My dad is the one who got me, and my brother, into gbodies.
I don't know if anyone has seen my dad's car at carshows or in mgazines or not. He had a '78 Malibu, 402 BBC, Ford Grabber Blue, Pro Street. Right now, my brother is building a clone of it, minus the big back tires.

That Malibu sure looks familiar!! I bet I have seen in a rag somewhere. I love it!!

Nice Monte too!!

nice monte, great buy to for 1000 bucks and in that condition. i got an 87 LS t-top, and i'm goin to removed the vinyl top too, good thing i looked at this post, didn't know i needed new rear quarter windows 🙂 Good luck

If its in good shape keep the vinyl top imo. it adds class. makes it look bulkier too. You'll be able to lure in more rice cookers.
