I just could not help myself and got a 85 GP. The PO put a new headliner in but did not put the interior back together.
So my plan is to put it back together buff the paint and see what I have. From my investigating on the paint I believe what Pontiac did was a three tone paint with the top being lacquer and the two lower areas in enamel. I will work on the lacquer most as the enamel is not to bad and should polish up good.

After spending some time around the car I think I can get A few more years out of this paint. Here is what we have on the roof.

I'll clay it first.

Then on to the old #7 I'll put it on wet and let it get in the old paint.

Starting to get some shine back.

Where is the stripe's on your 85?

Gbarrie.

that doesn't look like a factory 2 tone at all. the factory two tone has the bottom colour going around the wheel arches, and it's certainly not randomly angled up at the tail light filler panels.

nevertheless, good lookin project. i love the GPs nearly as much as I love Regals.

one thing i found about chalky paint, since my GP had it too, i buffed and sealed it and buffed some more... and every time it rains, it gets wicked bad water spots (called water etching). I can't get rid of it and will still need a respray eventually. So don't expect too much with buffing.

That is a good looking GP if I couldn't have found a wagon I would have looked for either a GP or a regal. What part of Washington are you in

Cool, I'm on the eastern side of i5 in spanaway
