Hey guys I'm trying to convert my POS auto transmission to a manual transmission. I'm wanting to put a three speed Saginaw in it because I don't need something super strong. This car is going to be my Sunday car. I need to know what I will need to bolt the new transmission to the 350 put into my El Camino by the guy I bought it from. Like what size is the bellhousing, What starter should I buy, Flywheel, Clutch Plate, Pilot Bearing?. I have the clutch pedal assembly, but don't have the shifter and linkage. Nobody around my neighborhood has a single clue so I thought I'd ask you guys.

Hi Zach. A bit of an introduction wouldn't hurt. Anyway, if you're looking for information for a manual swap, you can do a search either here on this site, MonteCarloSS.com, or on MalibuRacing.com. Between these 3 sites, there is tons of info. If you're swapping to a manual, you might want to think about going to a 4 speed if you can. You probably won't be 100% satisfied with a 3 speed. Good luck.

Nothing better then three pedals to play with!!! I changed my 86 cutlass over a couple of years ago, and I love it. I found the correct bellhousing and clutch fork from the 78's. But it was a bit of a wild goose chase. If I had to do it again I would run a hydraulic set up, but if you go the other route you might want to check cincinatti craigslist under g-body someone was selling the bellhousing and clutch fork. I think the price was $150. I was limited to a 10.5 inch clutch because of the size of the bellhousing. I read they made a 11", but I never found one. All the other linkage and pedals I bought new.
I'm running Muncie m20 out of a 69 camero with a hurst competition plus shifter. I had to file on the transmission hump I installed cause the shift mechanisim sets a little high, but it works great.
P. S. More gears the better I wish I had a five speed or even a six speed, but if you have a three speed throw it in and enjoy it.
