i ordered these https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item-69258-NVX-NSP35.html that are said to fit the 86 MC. But when arrived the tweeter pops out beyond the grill. im alomost positive i can put some washers in as spacers but cars at shop and idk if this will fit in the hole. Anyone use these?

i don't remember what speakers i put in the elky but i had the same problem what i did was gently bang the underside of the grill to [ dome ] it then used a small grinder on the underside of the grill to shave some away till it fit i had 4 grills only broke 1

When I had my '84 Cutlass, I put in a pair of Infinity 2-ways up front. I still have them, but I'd rather sell them along with an aftermarket Audiovox stereo I have. Fit perfectly underneath the grilles. You'll search a long time to find replacement grilles & probably have to paint them if you make a mistake with yours.
To note, I put these speakers in back in the 90s so who knows if they're still available.
Have you looked around to see what else is out there? Maybe you can return these if you find something. But check around first.
