I'd better for sure have a tep gauge if imma have an electric fan. And i also need to be able to tell if i am cooling any better or worse than stock so i bought an Equus 6242 Mech. Temp Gauge

I installed the temp gauge today after work, along with the Spal thermo fan switch. I put the Gauge in the spot on the thermostat housing where the thermal vacuum valve was, who needs that thing anyways. All it did was hold of a vacuum until the engine reached 90 degrees. I also ditched the one in the manifold that went to the EFE valve. hooked the vapor canister valve and EFE valve directly to vacuums without the thermal switches. I installed the Fan temp switch into the manifold. for the light on the gauge i used the lead going to the ashtray light. I have a chug plug there and don't need the ash tray light. My blue Putco LED made the gauge look pretty nice for 20 bux! My car runs at about 195, when i idled at the fast food place tonight it was idleing at about 210. so now i have some numbers to go by. Im going to do some driving tomorrow in the heat and see what im running at.

it got to where it was idling at 220 today in this florida heat.. I never have had a stat n it so i never really knew what it ran at. Now i know! Im anxious to see what this fan does for it, hopefully it will keep it around 195, what the stats set at. Picked this bad boy up today!!

and this,

its the 98 amp alternator i was talking about.. I dont know how i feel about it. With that nice battery i just feel like i should have a better quality alternator. Not sure if imma keep it yet or not..

so here it is!! Before!!

A Cutlass top plate thanks to mister PB86SS/87LS (Paul) TY Sir!!

Fan Relay wired in!!

A/C relay installed!!

Switched power from the distributer!

and last but not least, The Fan!! 😀

Cleaned up the bay ALOT, quietened it down too. I love the look. I got finished late in the afternoon so i couldnt give it a dead heat of day test, but my degrees never got to 210 thats for sure, it stayed between 195-200, and my A/C was pumping, even at hot idle. Its alot better than it was. I BET it wont see 220 tomorrow.. I can't wait to give it the real test, but i can already tell, its gonna be good. I can feel the extra horsepower also. Im gonna hafta re adjust my carb tomorrow. Thanks Guys, Ill let ya know how tomorrow goes!!! Im not too worried about the fan kicking off because in florida ill have the AC on 99 percent of the time and the fan will be overrided to ON for that anyways. I might change my thermostat or switch later on, idk yet, im just happy my AC blows cold at idle.. LOL

Nice cool day in Central Florida today, of course...! LOL :wtf:
Did some carb adjusting and a little running around today, wasn't hot enough for me to say she passed the test yet. Thermo didn't pass 200 degrees today tho!! Ill letcha know when the first dead heat day comes.

I was right about this alternator, its not cutting the mustard. The fan slows down when i turn on the AC, the lights dim when the fan kicks on and at idle the fan doesn't run full speed. I even ran an extra wire from the alt to the batt and it didn't help.. Anybody need a barley used alternator? LOL Ill be buying a Powermaster this Thursday when i get paid. Thats what i get for being in a rush, i wanted to do this install this weekend and didn't wanna wait for the Powermaster to be delivered. Now i've wasted 70 bucks... But on a lighter note, my car is STILL keeping cool, even with the fan not running at full speed. It almost gets to 207 on a hot day idling for 20 mins after driving hard in the sun, but like i said, the fan needs to be getting FULL power and i'm almost sure it will completely satisfy..
