Re: 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 resto

nice car, I just happened to come across a 2+2 in my area for parts since the floor and frame are too far gone I'll use her to built an '85 2+2 tribute car out of my 81 grand prix lj. As you can see on the pics the car has no rear bubble glass, although it has a trans-am gta rear spoiler made of fiberglass crafted on the deck-lid, they made only three of these cars, also they where black with charcoal botom and red striping.

Sounds like I'll need more room than my El Camino will be able to give me!

That's where the two-halves come in handy over the one-piece floor...

OPG sells the complete one piece floor pan for $394.99. They sell the two-halves for $679.90 (each half is $339.95!). They also sell front (left or right) or rear (left or right) for $287.80 for the four pieces ($71.95 each).
When it comes time for me to buy, I'll get the one piece floor pan and cut it lenthwise along the top of the transmission tunnel if need be! What do you think?

Doug

I think I've seen pics of that car before and it looks amazing. With the aero nose, the wheels, and that paint combo, it looks amazing. The car looks real good as a notchback but the whale tail just doesn't look right.

Yes that car was auctioned off in 2009 by Barret-Jackson. The ebay auction that was earlier this year was the same exact car. It only has a GM ID number and not a real VIN. I suppose you could probably get one registered for it though it would take some real good legal work. There's another thread on these forums where they debated whether or not the Ebay auction was real and it definitely was. It's the same exact car.

YES IT REALLY IS as it was a GM developpement mule and was supposed to be destroyed as any gm test mules but it rather lived in a museum as the 2 others that where built at the same time

I actually like it. I err on the eccentric side of things anyway. I've never been crazy about pedestal style spoilers on g-bodies, not even the Hurst.

Oldtinsmith, I would get the whole one like you said and cut it up into pieces

Killerbeachboy, I thought I saw that you were selling your grand prix? Its good to see that your keeping it and nice to see that you found a 2+2 to create the grand prix of your vision I'll be tuned in to your build if you have a thread for it

I have to thank my friend josh (dream on mcss) whos been helping me with this project and the making a better mach up design of what our vision is for the car. Here it is

Re: 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2 resto

I have a couple more updates. I have been getting a 350 truck motor clean but its hard. I thought it was pretty much rust free but the picture shows that theirs still surface rust 🙁 I had also got new parts for the brakes and got new drums and painted them red. Now that I realize it doesn't go with the new paint scheme but its fine for now
