Just recently picked one up, very excited about the project. Here's a link to some more pics of it:

Planning to put a 455 in this car, already have the motor and a Th400 to go behind it.

Thanks, I am excited about the car. I'm pretty picky when it comes to choosing my next project...seems like the older I get the more picky I am. I wasn't even shopping for this car when I came across it. The urge to buy it after I realized what kinda shape it was in was overwhelming. I lost sleep for several days before I finally pulled the trigger. I don't even have anywhere to put it at the moment...I had to put it in a rented storage unit. :|

I wish I could find some production information for the "T" package cars. I do know that they only made about 8,500 Y56 cars in 1987 (that included GNs equipped with that option), but what I don't know is how many were V8s. You could actually get this very same car with a N/A 3.8 in it. Pretty much any option combination was available during the 1987 year model.

There is one of these V8 Ts on ebay right now that only has 418 original miles on it. I think its priced at $22,900. The car is Charcoal Gray.

By the look of the tires it sat somewhere for quite a while. Looks like a nice project. Someone even added the GN rear spoiler and hoods with turbo bump.

Black with maroon gut, you don't see that color combo much.

Keep us posted with updates.

Yep, this car sat up for about 5 or 6 years I believe, it was under a covered shed roof in Jonesville, NC. The car is an original Carolina car. I can't find any evidence on it anywhere that it was ever exposed to a wet, salty road. Its in excellent shape.

You are correct - the rear spoiler, hood and front air dams were all added by the previous owner. He is a GN collector. I believe he had 17 of them in his possession at the time I got this car from him.

I don't care much for the wh*re-red interior, but it is in pretty decent shape. For its age, I would rate it about a 6.5, maybe 7, on a scale of 10. And that's only because the bolster on the driver's seat is worn and the plastic bezel that covers the top of the dash is cracked into about 10 pieces. Other than that its in very good shape. The headliner hasn't even started to sag yet and its original.

We went thru this discussion before a few years ago on turbobuick.com. We came up with an estimate of 1300 max. We eliminated all the production turbo cars to get that figure. The estimate was between 1100 -1300 of these built.
I had a rose wood v8 Limited with black out trim like this.
I had a customer Carl who stopped in last week from Burlington & he had the charcaol with gray interior Black out trim.
I have had a couple of these but the value wasn't real hi on them. Rare doesn't always mean valuable.
BUT it is perfect for waht you are doing. I have 70-455 waiting on one of those cars but $22,900 isn't going to be the one.
