Not a bad idea rebuilding that 200-4R... but before you get it back on the road, if you're familiar, be sure to adjust that Throttle Valve cable correctly or else the 3-4 clutch pack goes bye bye due to lack of pressure just going down the street.

Just to give you an idea what you're looking at...

Yes you did. There are all kinds of Yoo-Boob videos on how to adjust that cable. Just be careful and gentle with the cable end that locks into the bracket beside the carb. Too much energy applied to it and the plastic outer sleeve/shell can break.

The other thing is that, even following the instructions, you can end up with a cable tension that is still too soft. That is when you have to pull out or push in the sliding sleeve one click at a time to end up where you need to be. Test drives will tell you if you got it right. Right will be when the shifts happen and you feel little to nothing in the seat of your pants when the transition from gear to gear occurs. Buttah.

Found some bad news.... The Crankshaft Coalition site that had a very good transmission section is no more. It had a wealth of info, manual and automatic, and many of the GM photos pertinent to the 80's were photos of units of mine.

It had a section specific to the 2004R and the photo posted (2015) was one I had just finished for an 86 S-10
went and looked, checked the edit history, didn't see anything recently in the last couple of years. what got deleted?

We're you able to open the articles? All I got was under arbitration message.

Several of my posting going back to 2012 and 2016, no longer viewable. I did a good size chunk of GM Automatics, Olds 300 switch pitch, TH200, 250, 250, & 2004R; all those photos gone.

I did find some of the photos, and able to down load.

2004R...

I don't think it's you. I opened each of the Transmission links and every single one was blank with no info. I've seen this before so I decided to check a few others.

take a look at the article titles..... they're garbage, not even related to automotive. I think someone poisoned the site and wiped out stuff and no one has bothered to fix it.

then I went to ... https://www.crankshaftcoalition.com...smobile_Pontiac_suspension_upgrade....nothing

check out.... https://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Category:Good_articles

every single one of those is blank. my guess is some jackhole scammer took over the site and wiped it. nothing works.

does anyone know the Admin that maintains that site? are they aware of the issue? can they fix it?

Crosley is one. I'll have to go back and read what he posted, but it related to site being old and not used much. Sadly in the past I was able to have folks refer back to many of these articles as it reduces re-inventing the wheel.

Many of the articles were written by builders, actual builders, from all over the country. These are not the folks that just go to goggle and now they are "experts".

started checking the revision histories and found it. somehow, the system is getting spammed. if you look at the article titles and then look at the immediate following revision you will see that it is being undone. here's an example:
