Hello everyone, im posting on for a friend of mine whos fixing up hes 87 cutlass with me and we got some questions for the gurus. When he got the cutlass someone had swapped the stock quadrajet for a small holley double pumper carb but since this car is compurter controlled all the sensors are gone and the computer and its wires are just sitting there. The problem is the distributor , its an electronic controlled distributor and the car has a non electronic carb. Its cheaper for us to just switch to a vacuum distributor instead of buying a rebuilded quadrajet. If we do that can we just take out the computer and its wiring harness out of the car without any problems ? I just want to know if that harness is hooked up to anything inside the car.

The CCC harness is seperate from everything else and can be removed without hacking/butchering anything. On some years, there was a 2 wire connector on the CCC harness that plugged into the AC wiring, so that's the only thing about the CCC wiring that mixes with any other wires under the hood.

You may want to reconsider removing the CCC system assuming everything else other than the carb is intact. All those Olds CCC 307 carbs are practically the same ( if not outright identical ) from like 85 on up, so you could easily score one for cheap at a boneyard and it should run perfectly on your engine.

With the stock 307, it will be a dog and get awful mileage compared to a properly working CCC set up.

The problem is that my buddy is on a budget and he already has a holley carb sitting on the engine running and everything, we just practically need a vacuum distributor to be running good. Also finding gbody or any old GM car on a junkyard here in miami is a challange and with a carb even more difficult. Also the holley is not that big, is one of their small sized carbs wich i think is good for the 307.
