1987 Grand National rear

Hey guys, does anyone know what a stock 1987 Grand National rear size is(8.5" with 3.42 gears?????) and if everything would be the same to bolt it in a 1979 Malibu. Thanks for any help .Pat

sounds just like the one under my ride!, but mine is a posi, and its a bolt in for your ride.

The one I got was 3.42 posi.it is bolt in except driveshaft.drive shaft needs to be shortened an inch.
