Hi, My name is Sævar and I'm 26 from Iceland. I'm a master automotive mechanic but I work as an annual safety and emissions tester.

I bought a 1987 Monte Carlo 2 days ago and I've already torn into it to see what I have ahead of me, and boy it's a lot of work!!

Welcome aboard!
Looks like a nice Monte Carlo. What type of work do you have ahead of you?
What are your plans for the car?

Hi, I bought this car as a trade deal for another car I've been trying to sell for a while. I've always wanted this kind of car, it's got a 350 sbc and a TH350 in it already, its pretty beat to put it mildly.

I've already torn it down to see what I'm up against and I can foresee the summer going in to this project, hehe

Yesterday evening I took off the front, relatively easy not so rusty

This morning I seperated the frame off the body, this was pretty easy because half the mounts were already rusted loose, hehe

This would be the second body mount on the passenger side front, or where it once was... no more
Maybe this piece of sheet metal is available somewhere readymade so I don't have to fabricate as much?

The rocker panels need replacing and so do the rest of the body mount frames

The rear section of the frame, from the shocktowers and back is ruined, maybe this piece is available for purchase so I don't have to fabricate?

Saevar,
Wow! You wasted no time taking the car apart and pulling the body off the frame.
This is the man you want to contact about replacement about rear frame rails.

It's too bad you couldn't find a good rust free frame, but I'm sure it's probably next to impossible finding one there.
The other rusty section you will most likely have to fabricate.

Good luck! Let us know how things are progressing.

Thanks for the suggestions, i've found several bodypanels and body pockets available at OPGI and Mikes Montes site, they would surely save me some time and patience because I will need a lot of both, hehe

Rockauto seems to have new doors complete and rocker panels,

It seems you have had your work cut out for yourself Fleming, an inspiration for me, the newbie.

Welcome to the forum! Good luck with the project.

Good luck, keep us updated
