1987 Monte Carlo gas tank

I'm picking up an 1987 Monte Carlo with a 4.3 tbi it has a bad gas tank . I was wondering if there is a different tank or are the ones with carbs able to be used?Reason I'm asking is my friend has a good one from a Monte that had a carb and I could have it if it will work.

You could use an aftermarket tank as long as you keep the original 3 line sender from the TBI tank. Another problem you'll have is there is no "fuel bucket" to keep the TBI pump submerged in. A lot of guys recommend keeping it 1/4 tank full, I tried it and it worked but I had all sorts of problems so I'm going back to manual fuel pump.

I would stick with the 4.3 style tank that has the baffles inside.

You would need Spectra GM307C gas tank, would be a direct replacement.

Rock auto had it the cheapest (around $150) when I purchased one for LS swap. Everywhere else wanted around $200+
