Are you gonna hit the track with it? If yes then you might want a 350 transmission. You can use the 200r4 but it has to be beefed up to handle that kind of punishment. And it would be better than the 350 then. power steering is a must on these cars. You can get the chevy brackets from any chevy car or truck. In fact try converting to serpentine belt and you will have a lot covered.

Yea I was hoping to keep the 200-r4 I know it has to be beefed up but doing research on what I should be replacing and I'm hoping for street strip build when I'm done so transmission will be coming out and car being pushed out side any Idea if I can take the pully system off a newer 350 ?

I know as a fact up to 95 for V8 and V6 trucks. The reverse water pump is the issue I'm not sure of. Check around the forums first. Especially the Monte Carlo forum and ask around.

Strange, neither of my 307 sbo to sbc conversions I never had to modify the wire harness. A.I.R. was long gone on mine so I just swapped the battery to the passenger's side. Since the charcoal canister was also gone I installed a small filter in the return line to keep the tank vented but prevents debris from getting in.

Your right. Sometimes they just flip over and you just use the same battery to starter wire. It changes when you deal with cars that were not well maintained and /or wires were changed. Not everyone gets a unmolested vehicle. The few 307 to sbc (2 Buicks and one Olds the first Buick was for the street, the others were track cars) that I've done, were NY cars with crappy wiring. They looked as if a million mechanics were into them and all did something different. The ones I hate the most are the guys who put a horn button on the dashboard and wire it out side of the harness. Thats when you know your changing wires on a large scale.

Hey kblink, any progress on your ride? Just checking on ya. 😀
