Looking for a starter part number? I just swapped the 307 for a 383 stroker in a 1984 Hurst kept the original overdrive trans in it had it Built. Just changed the flywheel to a SBC flywheel and can't seem to find a starter to fit. Thanks Steve

You don't have to many optoins with you're motor. Is it using a 400 crank that was cut down to fit in the 350, meaning it is using an externaly balanced flexplate? If so get a starter for a 76 chevy truck with a 400.

If it is an aftermarket crank then it could have either the big(168 tooth) or small(153 tooth) flexplate. You're gonna have to know this. If the starter you have is not even close to touching the flexplate when the gear engages then you have the smaller flexplate and will have to buy a starter for an application that uses the smaller flexplate.

It was a internal balanced rotating assembly (Eagle) I put the 168 tooth flywheel on it and can't seem to find a starter that will work.

The p3510s or the p3510ms from Advance Auto should work if you're looking for a stocker. Can't remeber what the diffirence between the ms and s is right offhand though.

Or if you wanted to spend the money you could go with this. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-820323/

i belive the ms is mini starter

Nah, i'm pretty sure they are both fullsize starters, they are stock replacement for 78 and 83 chevy trucks. You can get a 3510(at least used to) the difference between no s and the 3510s is that one with an s comes with a solenoid.

Well after some more checking the only difference between the P3510MS and the P3510S is the "MS" has a shorter solenoid on it. The MS started being used around 82 with the S being used up til then. I figure it may have been for added clearance when GM switched to the passenger side dipstick. And for future reference the P3510MS should provide a little more header clearance as well.

what kind of problems are you having with the starter? there really are only a few starters, 153 tooth, 168, and the ministarter versions. if the bendix is engaging, but stripping the teeth, you have the flexplate backwards.
