i have a question about the 200r4 column shift.

i am swapping a 3.8 with the original column shift and swapping a 350 with a 200r4 and was considering making it a column shift, all the linkage looks the same so will i be able to hit all the gears because the overdrive will be added in. i wuld be alright with not being able to get down to 1st gear if that what it comes down to but as long as i can get through P,R,N,OD,D i would think that would be fine. any imput to help me would be appriciated

I swapped out motor/trans, went from a 305/th200 to a 383/th200-4r. I have not been able to get 1st gear with the original linkage. I spent about 30 mins messing with it and have not tried since. I wonder what part is different myself. Hope someone can be more helpful, I just wanted to share that you're not alone lol.

what i would think it is probably the travel of the original shifter itself but as long as i can get through the important gears i would be fine with that

What's your question? The 200-4R with column shift was factory available in the G-body cars. Either get a steering column from one of those cars or disassemble yours and swap the shift quadrant.

i guess the question is that is the travel for the 200r4 column shifter the same as the travel for a v6 (not even sure what the trans is called because theres no power to care about)
