I have a G-force xmember in my olds for the 350/2004r set up. Fits nice and is very strong, and pretty heavy. Maybe more than I need, but its there and its not coming out...lol. Theres a lighter. tubular version made by G-Body Parts IIRC, that one is for street use or lower horsepower. I went with the G-Force because its bullet proof and if I ever want to step up the HP, its already in the car. Also, you made need an extension for the Drivers side to allow these crossmembers to mount in the older, pre 200-4r cars. I know G-force makes one and maybe G-body parts has one too. You need to look under the drivers side where the crossmember mounts...if you see two sets of mounting holes, your good to go...otherwise, you will need the extension.

thx bill,i will order the g-force xmember sounds like the one i need!
i'am new to gbf,and i see alot of info on here great website!
i have plans later this winter to install a sbc 408ci 480hp 500tq with
a 200r4-3000 stall with 4.10 gears!street/strip.

If memory serves me correctly, they make two versions of that x member, one with and one without the extension. Its ready to install from the box. Sounds like you got a serious street car in the making..good luck with it!

thx again for the info! my plans were to build th400 and make this a trailer queen.but no dually or trailer for now,
so i thought why not make it a 4 speed auto and save money!race track is only 40 minutes from my house,
so i figured that i would have to spend about $7-9000 dollars for a tow veh!!! instead i'll use the $$$$ on
very well built th-200r4! i also fig. that going wit this trans it'll pay for it self in gas savings, compaired with the th-400!

Smart thinking.....I recommend CK performance for the trans build/shift kits etc. Chris is top notch.

cool i'll check them out!if you dont mind me asking who built your trans?

My trans was a used one from a local fellow that had a 307 caprice wagon. his engine locked up cause his wife drove the car without checking the oil... :blam: So he sold me the trans cheap...I just had to pull the engine and trans to get it. I bought the CK Performance shift kit and installed it myself. Not hard. Got a Buick GN Stage 1 converter from a fellow GBF member. Had to rebend some lines for the trans, added a torque converter lock up kit from TCI, and now Im just getting to the point where I can install the exhaust system. I need to drop the tank and clean/replace it. And one of the power windows needs work, but shes ready to roll pretty much. Ill post some pics as soon as I can take them.

right on! i seen your video on utube that will be a nice clean runner! 8)
also will my driveshaft be ok? just wondering because its a 4in"al.
when i bought my 8.5 rearend i had to shortin by 1 inch.and the price at the driveline
service was $275 to shorten my stock one or i could purchase rebuilt al. for $400 out da door.
