22x9 wheels with no more than a +15 offset and 255/30/22 tires. You could even lower it if you wanted.

I have that tool and its a piece of junk. Not worth the money in my opinion.

i know theres a company that makes a tool for finding out whats the tallest and widest tires you can put on yer car. i think jegs sells it. here, i found it:http://www.jegs.com/i/Percy's/760/01201/10002/-1

Why do you need a tool when all you need is a little bit of math, a measuring tape, string, and maybe a weight to keep the string straight. If you need a tool to measure for wheels offset then you deserve to get ripped off.

For the rear, yes lots of measuring and figuring. However on the fronts a "tool" would be nice to have since the tires don't stay in a static position but have to turn as well.

For the money though that they charge for that piece of plastic, you can pretty easily make a homemade version that would work just as well.

The one tool I'd absolutely love to have is the one that you can actually attach a tire to and then move the tire around until you have the clearance you want. Lock the tool down and read the backspacing measurement.
However this tool is much harder to find and when you do find one, they are typically $400-$500. 🙁

Do you have any pics with 20s and 22s on a cutlass?
No lift kits?
No wheel rubbing?
No 24s.

I think 20s may be the biggest you can ride with meat still on the tire (no skinnies) as well as it looking properly proportioned????? (I've not decided yet, because I havent seen a cutty with 20s and dueces posted back to back)

I'm trying to figure out what the biggest rim I can put on my car with:
+keeping it looking proportioned properly
+no skinny tires
+Big lips on the rim (offset?)
+doesn't even look like it is rubbing

I know a guy with a 77 LTD he had 20's they looked to small (plus he was ridin skinny tires), went up to 22's looked great! Old timers love the look and he doesn't catch sh*t over it always get the thumbs up.
So I think it has a lot to do with proportions.
me myself I thought the car would have been perfect up to 24's considering proportions + wheel well size.

The cutlass has a different look as far as wheel well go compared to an MC
I think you may get away with bigger rims on a MC than a cutty without throwing off the look.

I like the 73 impalas & caprices with BIG rims (fours and up). It's a bigger car, looks better proportioned to me.

but again

ANY PICS?

There are a ton of them in the Custom Pictures Gallery thread(viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6854). I'll only post my favorite Cutlass ever, and it's on 22s:
