Hello, I have been running through the threads for a little bit, and though I was able to find some help, I was not able to find every thing that I needed. I currently own a 1986 Oldmobile Cutlass Supreme with a 231 Buick V6. A rare oppurtunity came on where I can get my hands on a 355 small block Chevy V8 with a turbo charger on it, and I can get it very cheap. I know that when he had the engine in his car he had below 600 bhp with 20 pounds of boost. I am not planning on running that many pounds of boost right off the bat, but I might eventually. I believe he said he will also be selling the fuel system with it, but besides that I am on my own. After my research I think I have found that I will need new suspensioin, mounts, transmission, electrical and cooling. I was also wondering if I am going to need to look at a new rear end differential. I was wondering if anybody could point me towards the right parts for this swap. Thank you.

You have a long road ahead of you.

You'll need motor mounts/ frame brackets to seat the engine in. I don't know but you may need a different radiator/ fan shroud because the car is a V6 car now. I'd check and see if the radiator that's in the car now has enough cooling capacity for the 355. Also what are you going to do for an inter-cooler? As for suspension i Think you only need to get a different set of coil springs, shocks wouldn't be a bad idea too. If your car has a 200R4 in it now i'm almost positive it won't last long behind that 355, but a Th350 is an easy swap and you can have one of those built for a respectable price to hold up to power plus they have similar dimensions to the 200R4 and you won't need allot of extras to swap it in.

Somebody else with more info will chime in. Good luck with your build, that car will really get up and move with a boosted SBC.

Thank you for the reply. I figured TH350 will be the best since there is a 200R already in the car. I am going to do some research and post some of the parts I have found to see if they are good deals.

Just be careful if you pickup cheap parts, often times what you pay for is what you get but don't let that blind you too good deals haha.

Right now i'm using the stock crossmember that came in my car with my Th350, my car originally had a 200R4 i believe you're good to go there. You will have to modify if though based on what exhaust system you use.
