3.8 exhaust

like to play with them for the simple fact that people generally don't mess with them. Plus, even if not as fast as a V8, I like to look at the puzzled look on people's faces when I tell 'em it's a V6. Even better when you tell 'em it's the CHEVY V6 and they look at you like you have two heads!

Sorry for the shameless highjacking...

Aaron or anyone else, have you done anything with the 229 and a different cam profile? I have been thinking about updates I can do that would make sensible power for a driver. Nevermind the gear set that is not designed to rev the engine to 6000 rpm.... just looking at the stock specs, the OE cam uses very retarded intake timing and short duration (for emissions, I suspect). More torque in the same powerband would make a world of difference.

Was looking at the least-radical Comp Cam, would just boost the lift slightly and moves the intake duration from ~170 to 190. That puts it in line with the late model 305 cams. Their program predicts 140 hp, 210 ft lbs (all else stock). That would not be bad at all for a driver.

When I needed a new cat-back, I considered looking for performance exhaust but then I realized I'd look like a tool with a rumbling exhaust and the engine putting out all of 120 hp.

sorry for the late reply, my computer monitor just randomly died

i will probably do the thrush glasspack then. i wanted to do the flowmaster for the better sound and looks, but have recently decided that i should save my money. i will probably get a weld on chrome tip too just for looks. we took all the guts out of the cat. already 😀

bourbon: was the thrush glasspack a direct bolt-on? where did you get it?
