Does anyone know anything about these headers on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/85-87-CU ... 20b5baaacb

I was thinking about running them on my 88 Cutlass, they seem pretty cheap though. I was just wondering if anyone had used them or knew anything about them. I was going to put a 455 in it, but have decided to keep it as close to original as possible. I would just like to dress the engine bay up a little, and give the old 307 a little more room to exhale. Even though the 307 is anemic to say the least, I am more interested in keeping this one original. I plan on dropping the 455 into my '75 Chevy C10, 2wd, SWB truck.

I would avoid that seller, due to the poor description on that page.
For starters, the headers in the picture are for a Chevy engine.
It also appears that they've lumped both the Chevy and Olds engines together in their listing, leading me to believe that they don't even know the difference...

And why bother with keeping a 307 car original? That's no fun at all...
If it were a Hurst/Olds or 442 I could see wanting to keep it original, but not if it's just a regular Cutlass.
Yank that 307 out and stuff it in the corner of you garage and put the 455 in... You won't regret it.

While the 307 is def a dog at best.. headers will make a noticeable improvement... stay away from Flowtechs

I got flowtech on my 307 now. I think they're awesome.

Your tempting me to do it, that big boy would look so damn good between those fender wells. But I'm sure it would feel much better than it would look when you mash the pedal. I had a '72 455 in my old Cutlass, and it is now in my buddies trans am, forged crank and all. :blam:
I have started tearing down the '76 455 and it has been well taken care of. Should be a good runner, when I get it ready.
Anyway back to the headers, I thought that they seemed a little fishy. After reading the listing closely I noticed the same thing you mentioned. I'm just looking around for stuff for the 307 for now until I get the 455 ready. Not that I'm looking to make any power, but I just want to keep the original engine after I swap the 455 in. I really like making the engine compartment look good, even though the 307 moves at glacier speed. Plus I get to enjoy the gas mileage driving it everyday. The 455 will be a different story.
Thanks for all of the replies,
NH

When I still had the 307 in my 442, I got a cheap set of headers from DynoMax and was pleased with the quality considering how inexpensive they were ($110 back in '02). They're probably more now, but food for thought...

No you wont regret going with 455 power... I was used to my 9.6-1 compression 403 that loved to rev.. and it made all its power above 3000 rpms... a few engines later i ended up with the 455.. i thought it seemed doggish but it moved the car just as quickly but with a lot less rpms..

Even a smog 455 will be loads of fun... my biggest regret was camshaft selection.. i should have used something a bit more modern than the old Performer cam.
