I just recently bought an 87 Regal with a 307 olds V8(was hoping for a turbo 6, but can't complain for 600 bones) well i'm aware of the drawbacks of the 307 engine and i want to build an olds 350 or 403(preferably 305) for pure daily driven street use. i'm looking to get into the 350-400hp range with pump gas friendly compression and on a REALISTIC buget lol. i'm a chevy guy and don't know much about olds engines. And i'm not intrested in swapping for a chevy or buick engine or what not so keep it moving if that's what you got to say. it already has an olds in it so an olds is going to stay in it

thanks

I also have a 307 in my cutlass coupe and I don't have crazy money to dump into a brand new or other engine. Just for the crazy v6 I'm gonna waste my money on. That and I don't need retarded horse power. It couldn't hurt if I got an olds rocket 350 for free though hehehe. So what are some simple mods? I never got to study a 305. Is the bolt pattern on top for the intake manifold the same as the 307?

adizzle, I would check out the builds section of www.realoldspower.com
The ask questions in one of the other sections. Lots of knowledgable Olds engine builders on that site to give you great advice for your motor & goals some with info as to where to get said parts cheap especially if you ask. BTW welcome to this forum lots of othe good info here for you.

If you can try to get ahold of an early 69-76 engine. Your best bet would be the 69 engine, it has the best flowing heads and has a good compression ratio. Plus the block has a very high nickel content, which makes it really strong and handle high rpms. Take a look at this website, it has lots of good info on Olds.
