mMy 86 Salon, is idling very rough, Jumping from 700-1200 when cold. When its hot its a bit smoother but gets up around 1500. is fine while driving, does not bog down when accelerating.

I have yet to actually do anything, for two reasons, not sure were to start and two I am waiting for a service manual, and without I would be pretty lost.

So with that said, I have checked for Vacuum leaks ( i Did have a few hoses changed), and all but one hose is not connected properly. a Hose from the air cleaner to a filter to the valve cover (if you know what I am saying and I am saying it wrong please correct me).

After that, I though I may have a Mixture Control Solenoid that has a probelem, as I read that the clicking you here when the key is on but engine not running is that, and you should here the sound. I didnt so i unplugged it and got an error code, the Idle was no longer an Idle as it was at 1500+ rpms but Smoother. I then Plugged it back in and turned of the motor, and it was clicking again, so i guess its ok. I also unplugged the other electric connector to the Carb, which I believe is the TPS sensor. AGain The car runs smoother in park, but at a high RPM.

What should I check Next 02, EGR? And wil the GM service manual have a trouble shooting and step by step for testing these components?

The car has new Wires and Plugs (I would assume plugs because the Wires are new, who changes wires without plugs unless they are damaged, for this questions lets assume the plugs a re good, I will check these 2morrow )

Any body have any suggestions beside going to a mechanic, id prefer to do it myself and learn. If I brteak something I can always pay if I have to. ( unless I really break something🙂)))))

Thanks
