You got out of that one lucky could have been stuck with a junk motor, you said you already had an exhaust on the 260 while it was in the car? What did you use for headers? I have an 80' Cutlass with a 260 that the previous owner did a horrible job scabbing up a dual exhaust, and basically destroyed the original manifolds. I just figured I would put headers on instead of trying to source a set of manifolds. I am in the process of milling a donor intake and welding on a standard holley bolt pattern adapter to eliminate the junk 2bbl that came on these motors. I will be posting pics later in the summer of what I have done to the heads and intake. I think a lot is to be gotten out of a 260 if you just free up the exhaust and intake stream, the stock HEI with the temp retarder is junk by all accounts.
