The trans is a th350, you can tell by the location of the modulator. As for the block my 1972 C10 has the same casting number and I know that it is a 4 bolt main 350. However I do believe that the 327s had the same numbers on them. Any idea what the engine/trans is out of?

According to my book that i.d number is either a 1968 327 or a 1969-1979 350. Both share the same i.d number

I just had a look at this site and it says...."ONE NOTE: Casting #'s will trump the code on a descrepancy. Take the above CLJ example. In 1987 CLJ is a 305 L69 in a monte carlo, or in 1971 it's a 400 from a monte carlo. So when the arguement over 305, 350 or 400 comes up... now you look at the casting #. 3970010.... bang, it's a 350. That eliminates the 400 and 305 possibilities."

looks like thats the same number as on your block so id go with 350 i guess.

Yeah im thinking 350 also.. So maybe I shouldnt buy it. I want a 327. Thanks

I think the th350s came about in 1969. So just guessing and without seeing the ID pad on the pass front corner of the block, I might guess that its a 350. Any particular reason for the 327 over the 350?

The 327 are more rare than a 350.. Everybody in atlanta has a 350 in their car. So I figured a 327 would be something different. Plus I believe the 327 came 300 hp. If im not mistaken.
