I I
Not trying to start a pissing contest nor will I engage in one, but there was never a (factory) 327 4 bolt. If you do any investigating you won't find any info to support one. That's why I'm interested in this thread not to say the holy grail isn't out there. I have read that some Canadian trucks might be but nothing to support this.
you are 100% correct no 327 from factory came with 4 bolt mains but there is a chance that this engine has a 327 crank in it. not trying to start anything here either just putting my .02 in i am also very interested in this thread as well

Numbers on the crank will tell the story of what it is. It has the 4 inch bore and that came in all motors listed 302- 327 and the 350 just the stroke was different. If its a large journal crank then you only need to add the 350 stroke crank and your set. Just let us know what the numbers on the crank are?

Boooo the crank is a cast 350 marked NF what ever that means.

LOL its not even forged... Looked like it to me. Pistons are marked 2774228. This is a plane Jane 350 with 30 over bore.

Well, at least you didn't just find out it was really a 305.

Looks like a pre 77 casting with the longer pad on the front of the block. If the walls look good with out to much ridge then just clean it and hone it and get a set of pistons that you want. Or just rering it and add a set of vortec heads and a Comp flat tappet cam something like a EX-268 and you in the 375-400hp range. It will always be a 355 so the power is in the heads and cam. ENJOY

too bad it's not a 327... I've got one that I have no real history on, and it's been frankenstein'ed down the line... going by the stamping, mine's from a '64 belair/chevy II/corvette rated @ 250hp with 2 speed powerglide... some how it now has a forged crank-going by the stampings, it's from a 67-68 gmc truck (IIRC small journal), it's been bored .040" over, and had mis-matched double hump heads that if I read and decoded the #'s, were 350 and 375 hp heads (more than likely, I read them incorrectly), and I don't remember the cam castings (the bearings were wiped out... think it may have had something to do with the guy I got it from doing a couple 10k rpm bursts... I personally saw it do 8500rpm when the pedal stuck on me before I could get it released)... it still managed to just about clear air the front wheels on the 68 longbed chevy truck that I took it out of.... I installed the xe268h set, stock vortec 062 heads, eddy carb and rpm intake... when I put it together, and did my measurements, old member mkIIIsupra plugged everything into his desktop dyno, and estimated about 380 hp at the flywheel...

I really haven't had it out on the road but a couple short runs, and with timing way off, it still manages to get up and run away from you! highly recommend one if you want an odd sbc to have under the hood...

Great choice on the heads and cam you picked. What you like the most is the big bore shot stroke that made the 327 what it was.

MF22800 is not a production GM format. Typical format is F0123MO. F being Flint plant, 0123 being month/day machined/assembled, MO being engine suffix which denotes displacement, (usually) trans type, and car line usage.

The engine suffix is just that, a suffix...comes AFTER the engine plant/build date info

Might be a reman serial from somewhere that built it. Also should have a partial VIN if it were a production block and had not been decked.

"2800" is the last 4 digits of the GM part # for the crate engine assembly. Don't be disappointed w/ a plain jane 350 - I put a stock L-82 short block in mine w/ 2.02 iron heads 7 years ago to finish running the points chase when my 400 cracked the block and it has performed so good I haven't thought about putting the 400 back in. It's all about the combo and where you want to make HP
