Ok guys, So after joining this forum, i have learned alot and want to improve my mechanical skills..I WANT TO BUILD A ENGINE!!!

So I traded a Radioflyer wagon, and two gbody items that i had lying around in garage with a guy on Craigslist.

Its a Chevy 350 2 main block ( it only comes with the block and the heads & engine stand ), which is fine...i want to learn exactly what I need to do to put it all together and get it ready to just drop right in..

I would love for everyone to chime in and skool me, because i really dont know what the hell im doing!!! lmao

All i know is i need torch wrench, pistons, rods, rockers, cam, intake, carb, pulleys, distributor, plugs, spark plugs wires, valve covers, and i dont know what else i need from here on out...

Dont know what the steps are in putting it together so if u guys can help, that would be great...Of course I will ready books and you tube alot for all my info...But would perfer Gbodyforums advise, and my fellow 80zbabiez crew..

I will post pics later on tonight or tomorrow morning...Just wanted to get this post going..So let me know what i all need..

You guys are probley wondering why the title is name "tummy tuck" this 350 build is going to be for my next project, STAY TUNED!!!

Thanks,

Good luck bro! I would say first take engine to a machine shop to make sure it hasn't been overbored and that the block is in good shape to start a build. Then your guess is as good as mine lol.. Im new at this too.. books are a must too 🙂

Yup, thats what im going to be doing....Will take it to "Castillo's High Performance Engine" where I took Project elko to get her engine rebuilt...They are real good at what they do and kool cats...thanks bro

i recomend this book: http://www.overstock.com/Books-Movies-M ... oduct.html
that will help ya get a better understanding of what you need to do the rebuild. but sometimes books arent enough ya need a visual aid. boxwrench makes videos on how to rebuild engines. the hardest part is gonna be waiting on parts or tools in the mail. take lots of pics cuz this is something i wanna do someday aswell.

i have the box wrench engine building dvd...i hate reading so it was more helpful to me  ...look it up online, you might want to buy it, it was like $30 sumthin, shows the whole process from start tko finish...
http://video.boxwrench.net/basic-engine-building.htm

i will try and see if i can burn it onto a dvd i just gotta figure out how to get past the copyright protection and then just give me like $5, let me know if your interested or else ill lag it lol
