I am in the middle of swapping in a 72 350 Olds in my 87 442 and I was wondering if I need any of the old wiring on the passenger side of the engine ?
I have a new carb and distributor so the computer will not be used anymore.
Can I drive the car with the lockup wires on the transmission disconnected ? (Th200r4)

Yes you can remove a lot of wires. The yellow and black wire on speed sensor needs grounded for the cruise to work. You can drive with the lock up disconnected. I would add a big trans cooler and a kit like the TCI kit to control the lock up. The A/C also needs on one wire grounded as well, I believe. You could actually run a stock 72 350 on the CCC since it is 8 to 1 with a tiny cam stock.

You do not need any of the wiring that comes from under the a/c box. The trans will work stand alone. The a/c wiring and blower for that matter are on a loom closer to the top.

That is good info on the A/C. I had to bypass the factory wiring and hook up a toggle switch to turn on the compressor.

Thanks for all the info 🙂 Most of the AC parts are gone ,so I`m not planning on restoring the AC system. The cruisecontrol is also disconnected.
I was just worried about killing the transmission driving with the lockup disconnected.

Since your not going use your lock up I would recommend a trans cooler with a fan. B&M 70297 Hi-Tek is a great unit and have them in my cars. I use a toggle switch rather than than the thermal switch it comes with. 200r4 generates a lot more heat when not locked up. Heat will kill a 200r4.
