Ya what he said!! Hey wait a minute thats me your talking about.

Agree with everything previously stated, there is no replacement for displacement. Plus every beater you see has a sbc, not many bb runnin the streets.

Im a fan of the Small blocks. Cheap parts, cheap power.

big blocks, more $, more power. to get the big block in there youll need to spend some cash but once its in youll have about the same power if not more then the money you would have spent on a small block.

it all comes down to preference for the most part. a BBC does look sick.

My goal is to have a SBC in my car now and then eventually a BBC in a daily driver g body.

Not even close, unless you go with a completely stock, detuned 185hp 454, and even then, that's comparable to most stock detuned small blocks!

First, the big block will fit in a G body, like it was made to be there. I am using a stock rad and stock water pump, and cooling has never been an issue even with over 500hp.

The ONLY reason you may have to spend more, is that, since you will have lots more toruque and hp, you will probably want to beef up the rest of the compnents, ie transmission and diff.

Oh, and make sure you buy big block motor mounts. The small block ones will fit, but the motor will sit slightly higher.

If power is what you are after, either now, or later, there is no point in wasting money on the smaller motor, just to have to replace it later.

The same arguement actually happens with big block to big block. If you get a guy asking about whether to go with a 396, 427, 454 or 502. These days, a 396 is pretty much useless unless you get it for free (ready to bolt-in) or all your freinds have small blocks or you are restoring an original.
