Keep an oldsmobile in an oldsmobile. The olds and buick motors have more torque anyway

84cutlassjuggalo,

I'm still not clear on what you have now. 84 Cutlass right? What engine is in your car today? 3.8(231) V6, 307 V8?

You mentioned you want the new engine to bolt up to your TH 350 trans, but your car did not come with a TH 350 so I'm a bit confused. Are you referring to the trans in your car now, which is probably a 200 (3 speed)? Or do you have a separate TH350 that you would like to use for the swap? If you have a separate TH350, what is the bolt pattern on the bellhousing, Chevy or BOP?

Thanks,
Alan

Imagine 4 brothers, ones name is Chebby, another's name is Oldman, one's name is Poncho, and the last guy's name is Buck

... Mr. GM, their dad, came up to them and said, "I want each of you to design an engine".

so they all went off into their own little rooms and made V8s. Non of them knew what the other was doing, nor did anyone go into each other's room to see what might be happening.

But remember Khan, at first Chebby sneaked into Oldman's room and copied his original design, which was shared with their cousin Caddy. But Mr. GM's brother, let's call him "Ed", found out what Chebby did and made him start over, allowing Chebby & "Uncle Ed" to put old Mr. Stovebolt into the retirement home...

at the moment i have a 305 in the 84 cutlass supremem. Im not sure on the trans is but i think its only a 200 automatic 3 speed (ive only drivin it once and floored it to push it though he gears). I have a seperate th350 which im taking out of my 88 cutlass supreme classic which right now as ive been informed by my cousin has a chevy 305 with 350 heads.

The one drive i took it on to get a rough feeing for the car showed that its a little slow to acc. after i push the gas about a 1-2 second delay that the car actually speeds up. How ever the car handles amazing but im planning on lowering it a little bit mabyy 2-3 inches.

So im prett much wondering which motor would be best to combine with my th350 to get more torque and a little more power but not extream amounts( any *ss can put high HP in to a car but not just any one can drive a car with alot of horse power) its my first car that ill be driving so im new to the gbody sceen and just started to get indepth knowledge about motors and information

ill be able to get more nformation on the bolt pattern of the th350 tomorow and the trans on the 84 cutlass tomorow an notifi you so it may be easier to come to a conclusion as to which motor and tras combo may be the best

i have a 350 olds for sale $150 if you wanna come to PA for it.lol

id def get the olds 350 from you even if it needed a rebuild but i live in PEI Canada so its a bit far to go get lol

Since your car already has a chevy engine in it, it would be easiest and most cost effective to replace it with another SBC. Unless you find a complete donor car with an olds 350 (how I did mine), converting one over could be a bit of a headache for a first timer.

ya im in the situation where money isall goin to the car to get i put to pretty much near show room quolity but untill its takin off the road in oct im ust at the point where im keeping the 305 in it but at that time in oct ill be hoping to put a 350 in it. I would personally like to have an olds 350 in it but they are verry slim to none around PEI
