just curious as to what all it would take to swap out my current 260/th350 with a pontiac 400/th350

Engine mounts

wont i be able to use the same ones and it will just raise the engine? im not concerned with a clearance problem

im not 100% but i think you have to relocate the mounts as well and the old ones will prolly need changing anyway. do you really want to use old crusty mounts ment for a v6 on a new more powerful v8...think about it.

It would be easier to set an Olds 350 back down on the 260 mounts and be done with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm Pontiac biased but an Olds for an Olds swap doesn't get any easier.

I agree with G-Body_Vet. But for the sake of argument, what is this going into? I personally like to see division engines in their respective division cars. Call me VERY old school.

I'm the same way. In all honesty you could sell the 400 and get a good running early 70's Olds 350 or even a 403 for a good price.

If you're determined to go with the Poncho mill it's not a hard swap. I don't recall which sides the starter & fuel pump is vs the Olds engine but that's something to consider with the wiring & fuel lines. Otherwise you need the right frame mounts which are cheap and Pontiac 301 motor mounts. Hoses to fit a 301 Pontiac should work too. You can use the same transmission too since it's B.O.P. bolt pattern.
