Hi guys, have a question. I got my 403 long block in and was going to check to see if the builder caped the AIR connectors in the heads but don't find any. See some bumps on the heads but don't find any caps. Do all 403 4A heads have the provisions or am I missing something.

I attached the best pic I have don't know if you can see them or not.

Thanks, Jeff

Do you actually want to put it in the new motor? Most guys eliminate it first thing, just curious as to why you would even want it on the motor. I'm not sure about a 403 but on my 80' 260 I had to go back one year for the heads not to have the AIR provisions.

No removing air system. But don't see any plugs. Do 403 motors not have air hookups?

It's possible they don't, like I said my replacement heads didn't have the holes in them, they have the raised boss for them but they are not drilled

403's were pre A.I.R injection and were not equipped (Maybe Cali cars had it?). The heads have bosses in th exhuast ports. They are usually one of the first things to remove when trying to improve flow on an Oldsmobile head. You can grind them out with a die grinder. Hopefully, your builder has already removed them for you.

Thanks. I didn't know thought smog pumps started earlier. Good to know

I'm not sure of the details but some 403's did come with the heads drilled for AIR. Maybe as Anubis stated, those were CA cars? Anywho, I noticed in you pic the the ground stud (head bolt) is on the wrong side go the SBO. Not a biggy but I think that the SBC stud is on that side of the engine..

Hey, noticed the 2 studs on the passenger side front and mid and was wondering what those were for. Where should they be?

Anyone know where the head bot with studs are located on the 83 H/O with 307? Mine in shop and can't look.

Also, can you move a head bolt with out loosing them all and re-torqueing? Also, would all the bolts need to be replaced if loosened?

thanks, Jeff
