Heck, for the prices of the NOS stuff you could just pay your body guy to paint them on!

Saw a guy who had a Grey '85 442 at the Hurst Olds Day here in Chicago who had the stripes painted on to actually look like decals, raised up and all... it was done so well that I couldn't tell until he told me.
 
has anyone put the deacals on before shooting the clear coat?
i was thinking about doing that when i get my car redone

Don't, it'll turn out shitty, like this...

You also won't be able to wet sand the clear around the decals, because with the difference in material height around them, you'd end up sanding through the clear trying to get it smooth.

NOS parts for these cars are nearly non-existant, which is why they fetch such big money.

I sold a pair of NOS '83 Cutlass grilles last winter for $350.
 
i just had the driver side painted last spring got the front fender ran into and got a set of NOS stripe and they were in ok condition but went the the pheonix stipes worked very well and awsome quality
