hi guys, i have the chance to buy a good running 454 tall deck for 600$cdn(that means money left over to stroke it  ) i'm planning on dropping it in my 87 cutlass,i will be removing the a/c heater box so the passenger side will be ok. now for the drivers side alot of you guys recommend a smaller booster for big block swaps. what i would like to know is where or on what car would i find a smaller booster, sorry if i'm repeating a privious question, thank you in advance.

Go to the parts store tell them you need a new booster for your car and tell them it's a dual diaphram booster. That is the smaller one.

Keep in mind with the tall deck you will also need a special intake or spacers

you will need to use tall deck brackets due to the heads being futher apart

a set of heads since the tall deck heads have peanut ports

You may think you are getting a good deal, but in the long run it will cost you almost twice as much to build

From what I recall, 427 was the only block in tall & short deck configurations. All 454's were standard decks. My 454 is out of a 1988 Chevy Dually & is standard deck & says 'Hi Perf' on rear of block. There was a 466cid that was a tall deck too & used in dump trucks.

just found a 1976 455 olds with th400 still in car and running, 100ths km for 1000$ delivered. not familiar with olds engines i'm an ex mustang guy. is this a good deal? i'm sure i'll find all the info i need on this swap(currently 305 with o/d) in the forum(mounts,crossmember,driveshaft...) but fell free to send me some tips and tricks, would like to know what i'm getting into before making the buy, thanks

beef up the 2004r and swing that 455 olds into ur olds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 200-4R has a universal bellhousing that accepts both Chevy and BOP style motors, so it'll bolt up. How long it will last in stock form is another story. It's a really good idea to get the trans rebuilt and beefed up unless you want to have to take it back out in a few thousand miles.

A 455 will drop right in on the stock 307 mounts.

Do it to it!
