st-jean baptiste ,quebec,
did some search .....

project: 455 olds engine marine 1975 in great shape ....intended for an 87 cutlass supreme ....

to run in our class we have to keep the original heads castings "C" but any tweeks can be done on heads or engine .....

my choice : lunati voodoo cam : 60805 ; 241/249 deg dur @.050 lift at 110 lsa
forged pistons for final 10.5 cr engine will be balance .....
should be 4:10 gears
around 3500 stall T/C (9.5") with modified 700R4 ....
hokers procomp headers ...

where i`m confused is on intake choice , did some search...seems like offy`s dosent do the port "O" sonic anymore
and beeterolds wrote somewhere that edlebrock are going to do an air gap performer RPM soon ...real or rumors ?

between the performer (that should lack the 5500+ RPM ) and the ackward looking outward cylinder runners (seems restricted)
of the torker and the procomp 27026 chineese intake

what are my choices ? any inputs appreciated !

hate to tell you but that 700r4 wont hold a 455 very long but you can get torker croswind performer everyone seems to like the torker

Jesse , the 700R4 has all the internals to withstand a lot of torque ......

but this post is not to discuss the 700R4 ......

I know that the torker is not a bad intake , but all tghe outward runners ( cyl: 1,2,7, 8 )have a restritcion compared to the inner ones ( cyl: 3,4,5,6 ) the notch in the runners to clear the bolts is poorly engineered as for me !

Nothing wrong with an Edelbrock Performer.

Focusing on the 5500+ RPM range on an Olds is pointless unless it's an all-out race motor.

They make all their power down low, and don't like to, or even need to rev higher than 6K...

yes but I think a performer RPM would be better for the 6200 RPM that I target !

there is a gap to fill between the perofrmer and the torker .....

I wish edlebrock would do it !

but what about the performer RPM air gap that i heard of ?

The torker can be fixed, it just takes some welding and the elimination of a few bolts.

And you can still get the Offy manifolds new:

Everything from the dual quads up to the Super-Sonic. I like my Super-sonic on mine.

However to save money I'd look for a used one on Ebay. I bought mine for around $150-$200 and after a bead blasting and powder coating, you'd never know it.

Thanks Andrew ,

never had anny issue with the torker once modified ?...( warping )

Beetleolds just wrote me a pm , thanks man !

Edelbrock finally listened to us ,olds people;

Now in production : p/n: 7551 , Performer RPM air gap ,Oldsmobile 400-425-455 big block oldsmobile intake .....

what an improvement over the regular performer ,
