I am working on a 1984 Oldsmobile regency brougham, and have a 1973 Granville donor car with a 455. I would really like to swap my 305 for this 455 but I don't know how much if any alterations will need to be done. New to this and would appreciate all the input I can get so I can be ready to tackle this project.
Thank you in advance

Are you sure it is not an Olds 307? An Olds 455 is a nearly a direct swap. An Olds 350 and 403 are direct swaps.

Well hell I didn't know what a Granville was so I had to search...I was given a Poncho engine and have a somewhat desire to drop it into my caballero just because. Aside from the correct engine/frame mounts, should bolt right in. There's gonna be some differences that ya just gonna hafta address...i.e. battery/starter in different location as compared to SBC, BOP bellhousing and I'm sure there's more...

What's the CID on that Poncho?

Too embarrassed to say and if I say, people are going to try and talk me out of it!!! Honestly wish it was a 400 or bigger. Like many will say, "it's your car, do what you want with it." Tbh...it's the truck in the family and rarely gets driven. As long as it makes a good daily driver is all I care about. Btw my cabby currently has a TBI 4.3...anything would be an upgrade...

Assuming the Granville has a 455 Pontiac you will need everything from that car including engine mounts and accessory Drive regardless if there is a 307 or a 305 in the Regency

Depending on if the frame mounts are different you might have to Source some from a G-Body with a 301 Pontiac engine

Pilgrim, be of good heart and cheer, it is a 307 Olds!! Not a 307 Chebbie. Two toad-ally different animals. Granted that the Corporate 307 got severely shorted in the cubage department, in an X body with a few tweaks it could provide some surprises. Low compression is perfect for a turbo and NOs excercise.
