Just got started on the project and thought I would post pics, if anyone is interested. I'm using an '86 S-10 chassis and plans include:
4.3 V6 (turbo?),
700R4 trans,
3.42 gear sets,
ZR1 wheels,
Grand prix interior,
and fully loaded....
I figure it will make a good year round parts getter. 😀

what are you using for a front diff? i can only assume you're using an astrovan setup... let's see the pics!

I am using an '86 S10 4x4 long box single cab chassis, 117.9" wheelbase as compared to the El Camino's 117.1" WB. Have to modify the front fender wheel opening at the front lower 2" for turning clearance.
The front diff is GM 7.2" IFS (stock S10).
Pics in my gallery, more to follow as slow progress continues.

Thanks Outsider, the full size short box is actually a better WB (117.4"), but as you can see I didn"t want a big jacked up rig.
Also, I find that the compatability of a G Body and an S10 are more in line with each other.
