V8 is correct, Charlie.

Now does anyone have an 800 series pitman arm laying around doing nothing? Perhaps someone can help our friend out? .

The last pitman arm I had for the 800 box I had sold quick! I still have the 605 arm and didn't get any bites. When you see the 800 series arm for sale you have to pick them up quick.

Just doing a little digging around on the www I have come across this on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/201052143039?lpid=82 the splines look a bit boogered up and I am always overly concerned about used parts especially when it comes to steering...or even if this is the correct pitman arm for the 800 box though the description states this is what I am looking for.
Also came across this http://www.southwestspeed.com/index.php ... l%20Camino but unsure because the description says for the 700 box. I admit I know very little about these cars, but now I'm seeing parts for boxes I've never heard of lol. Any comments, or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Charlie,
That one does look like it's slightly boogered up. You can check this site. It will help you find something closer to home. http://www.car-part.com/
Type in a pitman arm for an '85-'87 Monte Carlo. It has a drop down menu.

I suppose if someone has an old 800 series box that they'd sell cheap, that might be another way to acquire the pitman arm....or if someone has a good SS box with arm included, you might be able to swap that out.

I'll check out that link. I called a couple boneyards and went to my local yard today with no luck. And yes a good ss box with arm or bad box with a pitman attached would work just as well. Still curious about the new one I found at southwest speed though, I'll probably call them Monday just to investigate. Sure don't mean to sound like I'm rushing this swap, but that's just the way I roll.

Charlie,
It looks like Southwest Speed has the right arm. They seem to indicate two choices. I would guess it's the second choice, the 1- 1/8".. Big Power.
I suppose you can always call to confirm.
